In an ongoing effort to continue its work toward a greener operation, Andretti Autosport enlisted Andretti Steinbrenner Autosport partner Capstone Green Energy to offset the team’s carbon output at the NTT INDYCAR SERIES’ recent PPG 375 at Texas Motor Speedway. Across the three-day event weekend, Andretti Autosport’s VIP hospitality area was powered by Capstone’s G65 Green Energy Microturbine Generator, effectively offsetting the carbon output of the team’s guest hosting operations.

“It’s been rewarding watching the partnership between Andretti Autosport and Capstone Green Energy grow over the years, especially when it comes to our shared commitment to environmental sustainability,” said Andretti Autosport Chief Commercial Officer Doug Bresnahan We understand the impact that motorsports have on the environment, so we’ve prioritized initiatives that allow us to become a leader in actionable sustainable practices. Capstone Green Energy’s ability to help us offset our carbon footprint during the Texas race weekend is a perfect example of the type of proactive partnerships we value at Andretti Autosport.”

Capstone Green Energy, the primary partner for the No. 29 Capstone Honda driven by Devlin DeFrancesco, is a leading provider of customized microgrid solutions and on-site energy technology systems focused on helping customers around the globe meet their environmental, energy savings and resiliency goals.

“Partnering with Andretti Steinbrenner gives Capstone Green Energy a chance to showcase the power of our microturbine technology for INDYCAR fans,” said Capstone Green Energy CEO Darren Jamison. “With our shared commitment to sustainability and innovation, we can demonstrate the potential and flexibility of clean energy solutions to reduce the carbon intensity of motorsports and so many other industries. Supplementing Capstone Green Energy’s sustainability efforts, Sapphire Gas, a Texas-based fuel broker also featured on the No. 29 Capstone Honda, assisted in the tracking of the necessary Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) throughout the race weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. In addition to using Capstone Green Energy’s mobile generators, QR codes were implemented on the No. 29 Capstone Honda and the generator to educate hospitality guests and race attendees on the importance of greener global energy solutions through the Shift to Green landing page.

“Having a partner like Capstone Green Energy on the No. 29 Andretti Steinbrenner Honda has allowed us to learn a great deal about the importance of working together to push the limits of sustainability and clean energy,” said Co-Owner of Steinbrenner Racing Julia Steinbrenner. “By coming together at Texas Motor Speedway to power Andretti Autosport hospitality, they are doing exactly that. Being able to offset and neutralize the carbon emissions put out by all four Andretti Autosport cars for the entire race weekend was not only an impressive undertaking, but it also opened the door for conversation and education around Capstone capabilities and the impact their technology can have.”
